Since box requirements have been reduced to only 3 to 4 skus or fanfold widths, corrugator achieves large-scale production for maximum efficiency and economies of scale. Fanfold is loaded behind the machine in 3 to 4 optimal sizes and can be converted into any box size and style, eliminating the need to forecast demand or run a requisition report. Simple as 123. BOXES ARE PRODUCED AS NEEDEDThe box machine has been ‘right-sized’ so that boxes are made adjacent to the pack line from a continuous sheet of corrugated that is accordion-folded onto a pallet. As each product moves down the line, the machine can make a single box to precisely fit the product or be made in advance to fill kan bans. There is no need for racking, inventories or continuous material handling. The corrugated ‘fanfold’ is stored directly behind the machine. The machine is a Windows based CNC controlled unit, so packers can simply flex between the machine and the pack line. Obsolescence and shrinkage are reduced to single digit percentages and each box fits perfectly. Lean supply chain. |
